Dada lives, yet again

cricket, sourav / Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

It’s a bit silly, but the cricketing headlines are all about  the Fab 4 getting ready to go off into the sunset, and with lots of gentle prodding, and not so subtle hints.

And keeping in mind of all they have done, I still don’t say they should be given a chance to go off gently into the sunset, with their dignity intact – they should be selected purely on the basis of their form and their ability, especially their ability to win matches for India, in India.

And of course, Sourav has been shown the writing on the wall, but on the basis of his recent form does he deserve to be dropped? (Sri Lanka was a debacle for all 4)

So let’s see what the figures say for the last 12 months:

Mat Runs  HS    Bat Av 100   Wkts Bowl Av Ct
Dravid         13   754   111    34.27      1       –         –            23
Laxman       13   917   112*  50.94     2       1        21          12
Sachin          10   727   154*  45.43     2       0         –            5
Sourav         13  1076  239    44.83    2        4       43.75      7
Yuvraj           4    220  169    31.42     1        3       25.66      3

Stats from : Cricinfo

Maybe the argument is about their performance at home, so lets see their record in India for the past 12 months:

Mat Runs   HS Bat Av   100 Wkts Bowl Av Ct
Dravid        6    369    111     41         1         –        –         10
Laxman     6     336    112* 67.2       1         1        21        3
Sachin        3     139     82    46.33     0        0        –          0
Sourav       6     745    239   74.5        2        4      25.5      3
Yuvraj        2     203   169   67.66      1        3       22         1

And how do these guys compare with the rest of the world? (Based on their 2007/08 nos )
